Match Support is the crucial lifeline that makes for a quality match.
“[We partner with Big Brothers Big Sisters] so we can make sure that children born today can realize their full potential.”

Fmr. Mayor of Philadelphia

The time his father spent in jail was hard on Christopher – and having him back is hard for the 10 year old, too. With all these challenges, Christopher’s mother is so glad that Big Brother Luis has been a consistent presence in her son’s life. Throughout her son’s tough times, Luis has been there, she said, a shoulder to lean on and a great influence.
- Because someone donated three years ago, Christopher’s life changed.
- It costs $5,000 to make and support a match for the three years our average match lasts. Last month, we made over 60 new matches –donations make it possible to change those kids’ lives, too.
...in local Schools
Right now, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bay Area has after-school mentoring programs at 8 area schools.
- Because of a $218,000 Department of Education grant, we're serving 125 kids in East Palo Alto and Menlo Park. (This three-year grant funding ends in September of 2007 and needs to be replaced).
... at neighborhood Sites
Right now Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bay Area has programs at four Boys and Girls Clubs in San Francisco, the YMCA in Richmond, and we're just starting our newest site, the Boys and Girls Club in Oakland.
- Because of a generous gift of $60,000 from Breyer's Ice Cream, we were able to start work on opening a much-needed program in the heart of Oakland. We went to work immediately upon receipt of this gift, building a dynamic program in partnership with the Boys & Girls Club in Oakland.
