"(My Big Sister's) taught me to stay confident and do my schoolwork. Lindsay's helped me keep my grades up."
— Little Sister Marjani
At Big Brothers Big Sisters we work with parents to support their children - we're your partners to create a better future for kids all across the Bay Area, including yours.
We also hope you'll partner with us in other ways, too, that support our organization in its mission to be there for kids. Here are just some of the ways we work together with parents:
Can you help us:
Recruit more Big Brothers
We have hundreds of young boys on our waiting list asking for a responsible man to be part of their lives. The commitment is small, the rewards are huge - if you know a man who would make a great Big Brother, or belong to a church, business, or community organization filled with responsible men, speak to them on our behalf. The more men volunteer, the faster we can give kids on our waiting list a chance.
Recruit more Little Sisters
Many of our Big Sisters tell us that they wish they'd had a caring, responsible adult as a friend when they were children; unfortunately, little girls don't get enrolled in our programs as often as little boys. People assume that girls don't need the same kind of care, attention, and friendship that boys do. Of course, this isn't true. Girls - no matter how good their mothers - are also at risk of dropping out, doing drugs, or getting in trouble. Each young woman should have as many good influences in her life as we can give her - and having a Big Sister can make a tremendous difference. If you know a girl or young woman who needs another good influence, talk to her or her parents about getting a Big Sister.
Raise more money
It's simple: the more money we have, the more kids we can support. It all adds up. Every gift matters. A gift of as little at $50 can make a huge difference in the number of children we serve. A payment of as little as $4.16 a month adds up to $50 a year. Click here.

Put on a small fundraising event for BBBSBA. A gathering of 25 friends or more can make a great "Bowl For Kids Sake" fundraiser and we'll help you organize it.
Can you introduce BBBSBA to your company? Many businesses want to be good community partners by sponsoring local charities, by developing Cause-Related Marketing Programs that contribute a percent-of-sales, or by directly donating products or services to help us keep costs down. Helping us make contact with your company would also make a big difference. To find out how, contact Joanne Gold.
