Complete an application. Be ready to share personal info like your Driver’s License and references: child safety is our highest priority so is an in-depth process. There will be a required training for you to complete while we check your references.
Let us get to know you. This step allows us to make the best quality match possible based on a variety of factors such as distance, interests, and commonalities. A background check is required and has a processing fee. The fee varies based on current and past residency.
*Note: an interview does not guarantee you will be matched or become a Big. Rejections can happen for a variety of reasons. We hope you understand, thank you!
The search begins. Big Brothers Big Sisters will begin to search carefully for the perfect Little for you. This can be a quick process or take a few months.

Mentoring is the act of providing guidance and friendship to someone who could use a role model for life’s choices and decisions. Mentoring is proven to help kids reach goals, improve self-esteem and achieve their full potential in life.
It’s simple and deep. An adult volunteer develops a relationship with a young person, offering support and guidance. By spending time together, learning new things and cultivating a friendship, the mentor helps the young person make better life choices.
Big Brothers Big Sisters pioneered youth mentoring in 1904. We are the industry leader in mentoring services to children. An independent national study found kids involved in our mentoring programs were more likely to graduate and stay out of trouble when compared to their peers without mentors. They also found kids improved their school grades and relationships with others.
