Austin Bryant of the San Francisco 49ers Named Player Champion of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bay Area

San Francisco, CAJuly 18, 2023 – Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bay Area is proud to announce Austin Bryant, defensive end for the San Francisco 49ers, as an agency Player Champion. This partnership between the emerging NFL athlete and the leading mentoring organization aims to empower and inspire Bay Area youth. This collaboration takes off at the same time that the NFL has recommitted their support to Big Brothers Big Sisters through a renewal of the national Inspire Change partnership, which includes grants to leading social justice organizations. 

With this partnership, Bryant will extend his reach and serve as an inspiring role model for children facing adversity in the Bay Area. “We are thrilled to welcome Austin Bryant as our newest Player Champion,” said Lillian Samuel, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bay Area. “His dedication to excellence, both as an athlete and as a community advocate, aligns perfectly with our organization’s vision to ignite the potential of Bay Area youth. With his help, we can support even more life-changing mentorship relationships for the youth we serve.”

In his role as Player Champion, Bryant will actively engage with Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bay Area through various initiatives, including fundraising campaigns, youth and mentoring events, and public awareness campaigns, namely around recruiting more male mentors across the San Francisco Bay Area. He will help raise awareness about the organization’s mission, encouraging others to join the mentoring movement and make a difference in the lives of local youth.

“I am honored to be named the Player Champion of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bay Area,” said Bryant. “Mentorship played a crucial role in my personal and professional development, and I am excited to give back by supporting an organization that empowers young individuals to reach their full potential. Big Brothers Big Sisters Bay Area has 150 children on the waitlist for a Mentor and my goal is to help change that. Together, we can inspire positive change and create a brighter future for the next generation.”
